TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) has advised residents of Jakarta and its vicinity to be on alert for potential thunderstorms and strong winds this afternoon and evening on Thursday, April 9, 2026. With the persistent wet weather, the air humidity levels in the capital city and its surrounding areas are ranging from 72 to 94 percent.
Referring to the latest 24-hour weather forecast issued by BMKG on Wednesday evening, thick clouds have already covered half of the Jakarta Greater Area (Jabodetabek). Light rain has been reported in parts of Jakarta and areas in Tangerang Regency. Most parts of Jabodetabek experienced a lull in the rain during the early hours of Thursday. The only region with potential rainfall is the Thousand Islands.
Starting from 07:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until midday, BMKG has detected the potential for light to moderate intensity rain in parts of Jakarta, Depok, the City and Regency of Bekasi, as well as all of Bogor. The temperature in the entire Jabodetabek area is ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius today, except in Bogor where it is approximately 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.
Although the exact areas are not specified, BMKG predicts that the areas affected by rain in Jabodetabek will continue to expand from the afternoon until 7:00 PM WIB tonight. The strongest winds blowing northward are forecasted to reach speeds of 20 kilometers per hour today.
