Which SOE Will Control Prabowo's Single-Gate Export?

6 days ago 6

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has mandated a single-gate export system for three natural resource commodities through state-owned enterprises.

"The proceeds from export sales will be channeled to the government-appointed SOEs involved in managing these activities. This can be referred to as a marketing facility," said Prabowo during the 19th plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Prabowo stated that the government's purpose in establishing a sole exporter is to strengthen supervision and eradicate under-invoicing, transfer pricing, and the flight of foreign exchange from export proceeds.

The Head of State is optimistic that the single export channel will optimize tax revenues and state earnings from the sale and management of natural resources. Currently, the government has designated three major commodities mandatory for export through SOEs: palm oil, coal, and ferroalloys.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that commodity exports will be carried out through an SOE established by BPI Danantara. The company is called Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia.

So far, only three commodities are required to be exported through this Danantara subsidiary. However, Airlangga said that in the future, the government will mandate all strategic commodity exports to go through Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia.

The implementation of this export governance policy will be carried out gradually, starting on June 1, 2025. Initially, export transactions will still be conducted between companies and buyers, but export documentation will be handled by Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia.

For the second phase, on September 1, 2026, the entire export transaction process, including shipment contracts and payments, will be handled entirely by Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia.

Meanwhile, BPI Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani stated that the new export policy will be evaluated within the first six months of its implementation. Rosan noted that in January 2027, Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia will launch a platform for export transactions.

"I call it 'one platform, multiple benefit, the world is happy, Indonesians are happier,'" he said.
