TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russian President Vladimir Putin offered a high-tech fishing vessel to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during their meeting in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum hosted by Russia.
Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani, who was present in Vladivostok, revealed that the bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Putin also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the shipbuilding sector. Putin offered a state-of-the-art vessel to support the direct processing of fishery products.
"President Putin also offered a cutting-edge vessel with a length of more than 102 meters for the direct processing of our fish, thereby improving their quality," said Rosan in a statement released on Friday, September 4, 2026.
Rosan stated that, after receiving the offer, President Prabowo will send a team to study the technology and the potential use of the vessel for Indonesia.
Additionally, Rosan said that Prabowo and Putin discussed plans to ratify the free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union. The agreement is expected to open up more trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. Trade between Indonesia and Russia increased by more than 12 percent in the previous year.
"So, the momentum is very good; it's very fitting, and it expands in terms of trade, cooperation, partnership, and investment for both countries," said Rosan.
The meeting between Prabowo and Putin took place at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, September 3, 2026. At the forum, they also held bilateral meetings with their respective delegations. Prabowo returned to Indonesia on Friday, September 4, 2026.
Prabowo's visit to Russia this time marks his fourth visit since he took office as President. Prabowo previously met with Putin in Russia in June and December 2025, as well as in April 2026.
