TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Education Fund Management Agency, also known as LPDP, has confirmed that a scholarship recipient with the initials AP will face sanctions in accordance with the applicable regulations due to a violation of contribution obligations. LPDP's Head of Legal and Communication Division, M. Lukmanul Hakim, stated that the institution is still in the process of imposing these sanctions.
He added that LPDP is also calculating the amount of funds that AP must return as a result of this action. AP is the husband of an LPDP alumni, Dwi Sasetyaningtyas. The case came to light after Dwi's post regarding the citizenship status of their child on social media. "I know the world seems unfair. But let me be the only one who is an Indonesian citizen, not my children. Let's make sure that the children have strong foreign passports," said Dwi in a video posted on social media.
Dwi has apologized on his personal Instagram account. He admitted that the statement arose from his disappointment, exhaustion, and frustration as an Indonesian citizen towards various conditions. However, Dwi realized that expressing his disappointment in a way that potentially hurts many people's feelings was not appropriate.
In a separate statement, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the government will blacklist AP, preventing him from pursuing a career in government institutions. Purbaya also ensured that AP will face other penalties for insulting Indonesia.
"I will blacklist him. He won't be able to enter any government institution," Purbaya said on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Furthermore, Purbaya estimated that the amount of education funds that AP must return could reach billions of rupiah, but he did not specify the exact figure.
Purbaya also mentioned that AP has agreed to return the education funds he received as an awardee of LPDP, along with the interest. "So, we will enforce the existing regulations at LPDP so that the individual fulfills his responsibility to LPDP," he said.
