TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has offered 32 strategic investment projects worth an indicative Rp207.64 trillion (about US$12.5 billion) to Japanese investors, with proposals spanning transportation, property, ports and other infrastructure.
The projects, put forward by nine state- and regionally owned enterprises, include roads and toll roads, housing and township developments, commercial properties, railways and transit-oriented developments (TOD), ports and logistics facilities, and steel fabrication.
Deputy for Coordination of State-Owned Enterprise Management and Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Ferry Irawan said the projects had been selected for potential cooperation with Japanese companies.
"The projects have been curated and prepared as investment opportunities to support infrastructure development and open room for collaboration with strategic Japanese partners," Ferry said in a statement Friday.
The proposals were presented at the Indonesia-Japan Transportation and Infrastructure Business Forum and Business Matching 2026, held to connect Indonesian project owners with 50 representatives from 36 Japanese companies.
The forum was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
Indonesia pitches projects amid growth target
The investment offer comes as Indonesia seeks to attract more capital to support its goal of achieving 8 percent economic growth by 2029.
Ferry said Indonesia's economy grew 5.61 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, while inflation stood at 3.34 percent. Realized investment during the period had surpassed Rp1,010 trillion, he said.
He also cited Indonesia's BBB sovereign credit rating with a stable outlook from S&P Global Ratings and a 2025 JETRO survey showing that 69.1 percent of Japanese companies operating in Indonesia expected to post operating profits.
The government has identified infrastructure investment as one area where foreign capital could support economic expansion, while also contributing to technology transfers and job creation.
Japan already involved in major projects
Japan has been involved in several major infrastructure projects in Indonesia, including the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system and Patimban Port in West Java.
Maria Renata Hutagalung, acting head of mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, said Indonesia and Japan had maintained economic ties for around seven decades.
The latest investment forum comes as Jakarta seeks to build on existing Japanese involvement in Indonesia's infrastructure sector and bring more Japanese companies into new projects.
The 32 projects offered this week provide potential entry points across transportation, urban development, logistics and industrial infrastructure, with the combined indicative value reaching Rp207.64 trillion.
