TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace to lead Al-Nassr to the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League title after defeating Damac 4-1 in the final match of the week at Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh, early Friday morning, Indonesian time.
In addition to Ronaldo's brace, Al-Nassr's victory was also supported by goals from Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane, while Damac could only reply through Morlaye Sylla's penalty, according to the official Saudi Pro League website, as quoted by ANTARA.
Al-Nassr emerged as champions with a total of 86 points from 34 matches, two points ahead of nearest rivals Al-Hilal. This title ended Al-Nassr's dry spell. They last won the top flight of Saudi Arabian football in the 2018-19 season.
Ironically, Al-Nassr's joy was colored by the contrasting reactions of the Damac players who had to accept the fate of being relegated from the top caste after finishing in 16th place with 29 points because in another match, Al-Riyadh (30) saved themselves thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over the team ranked 17th, who had already been relegated, Al-Okhdood.
Al-Nassr took the lead in the 34th minute through Mane. The goal came from a Joao Felix corner, which Mane met with a header to give the home side a 1-0 lead at halftime.
After halftime, Ronaldo began to make his mark. In the 52nd minute, the striker's pass to the flank was met by Coman, who cut inside the penalty area and finished with a powerful left-footed shot. The goal put Al Nassr 2-0 up.
Damac briefly brought the match back to a tense start after Morlaye Sylla reduced the deficit with a penalty in the 58th minute. The score was now 1-2, and the pressure began to mount on Al-Nassr.
However, Ronaldo proved the difference. The 41-year-old striker scored Al-Nassr's third goal with a spectacular free-kick.
From a tight angle on the right side of Damac's defense, Ronaldo unleashed a powerful shot that flew into the net beyond Damac's goalkeeper, Kewin, who was unable to stop it.
The player nicknamed CR7 then sealed Al-Nassr's victory with his second goal of the match. Starting from an attack on the right flank and Nawaf Bu Washl's pass across the goal, the ball hit defender Damac's leg before falling to Ronaldo. With a close-range finish, Ronaldo made it 4-1.
The lead held until the end of the match, ensuring Al-Nassr emerged as champions of the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League.
