TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four matches in Week 28 of the Premier League will be played on Sunday, March 1, 2026. One of them will see current league leaders Arsenal face Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. In addition, Manchester United will host Crystal Palace at home.
Arsenal must win these home matches if they want to increase their lead over Manchester City, who secured three points by beating Leeds United 1-0 thanks to Antoine Semenyo's solitary goal early Sunday morning WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
This result puts City just two points behind the Gunners, who have already played their Week 31 match. If Mikel Arteta's side fail to pick up any points when they host Chelsea, the three-point gap between them and City will pose a significant threat to their title hopes.
On the other hand, Chelsea is in sixth place with 45 points, having drawn their previous two matches. Liam Rosenior's team will certainly be more motivated to return to the top four amidst the tight race for Champions League qualification next season. Liverpool, having just defeated West Ham 5-2, moved up to fifth.
Given the current situation of Arsenal and Chelsea, this London Derby is predicted to be a fierce contest. The Gunners, who have an impressive record of winning their last three home meetings against their city rivals, will be favored to win. However, the Blues, currently under Rosenior, also deserve some caution.
Another match, Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace, is also on the cards tonight. A win for Michael Carrick's side will see them move up to third place, displacing Aston Villa, who lost 2-0 to Wolves on Saturday. They currently sit third, just three points behind Villa.
The Red Devils under Carrick are unbeaten in six matches. West Ham came close to beating them two weeks ago, but Benjamin Sesko's stoppage-time goal thwarted their hopes, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Crystal Palace will become the first team to beat Manchester United under Carrick if they win at Old Trafford today. Last week's 1-0 victory over Wolves and qualification for the UEFA Conference League Round of 16 after defeating Zrinjski 2-0 in the second leg of the playoffs give Palace, now in 13th place, the Red Devils at home.
Two other matches, Brighton vs. Nottingham Forest and Fulham vs. Tottenham, are also scheduled for today, alongside Manchester United's home match.
