TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has completed his Europe visit to Russia and France. During his official trip from Monday to Wednesday, 13-15 April 2026, the Chair of the Gerindra Party met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Prabowo has agreed on cooperation with the two leaders. "President Prabowo brought home various strategic agreements," said Teddy in his statement after Prabowo's return.
Teddy said that Prabowo's meeting with Putin in Moscow emphasized the increased cooperation related to the long-term national energy supply, including crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reserves.
Following the Prabowo-Putin meeting, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia discussed the cooperation with the Russian government. "President Prabowo has instructed Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to meet with President Putin's special envoy and the Russian Energy Minister for further detailed discussions in Moscow," Teddy explained.
Through this agreement, Indonesia will obtain supplies of crude oil and LPG from Russia. This cooperation is explored through government-to-government (G2G) schemes as well as business-to-business (B2B) approaches.
Furthermore, Indonesia has expressed openness to expand cooperation with Russia, including in the development of storage crude, long-term supply of crude oil and LPG, nuclear exploration, and collaboration in the mineral sector.
After Russia, Prabowo headed to Paris, France. "In Paris, President Prabowo met with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the strengthening of energy cooperation, education, digital communication, and of course long-term economic investment," said Teddy.
With Macron, Prabowo discussed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including defense equipment procurement and the strengthening of the defense industry.
Moreover, the two leaders also discussed energy transition and the development of new renewable energy, as well as infrastructure and transportation, and education and creative economy.
Teddy claimed that Prabowo's visits to Russia and France have been fruitful. "A short two-day visit to two superpower countries, the holders of UN veto power, and the world's largest resource producers has yielded significant and concrete results for Indonesia," he stated.
