TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate of Drug Crime of the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) uncovered the circulation of the drug type known as crystal meth, originating from Malaysia. The Director of Bareskrim Polri Drug Crime, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said the investigators had identified a suspect named Moch. Hery and seized 38 kilograms of crystal meth as evidence.
"The team seized 38 packages of narcotics, estimated to weigh 38 kilograms of sabu, which were stored in a speedboat," Eko said in a press release on Saturday, April 19th, 2025.
Eko mentioned that the uncovering of this drug network started from information about the shipment or drug transactions of crystal meth from Malaysia to the Bengkalis Regency in Riau. After receiving this information, the Bareskrim Polri team collected materials and information through IT and surveillance.
The team monitored the location suspected to be the place of the drug transaction on Friday, April 18th, 2025. The police team arrested the suspect early Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 00:30 AM. "While at the beach, the team arrested the suspect who got off the speedboat," said Eko.
In the speedboat driven by Hery, the police found 38 packages of crystal meth narcotics, estimated to weigh 38 kilograms. Eko stated that the investigators are interrogating the suspect, Hery, to uncover other networks.
"The team is currently still developing the network from the suspect," he said.
Previously, Bareskrim Polri also arrested a Malaysian drug dealer who was carrying 192 kilograms of sabu narcotics on Wednesday, April 8th, 2025. Eko mentioned that during the pursuit, the perpetrator used a car and crashed into a truck on the Bireuen Highway, Aceh Province. "A pursuit was carried out, causing the perpetrator to hit one of the trucks. Alhamdulillah, there were no fatalities," said Eko in a press conference on Monday, April 14th, 2025.
Eko mentioned that the suspect used a modus operandi for drug transactions in the middle of the sea. So far, his team is still investigating the suspect to provide information regarding this drug case.
