TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Haj and Umrah has ensured that the implementation of the 2026 Haj pilgrimage will proceed as planned, despite ongoing political and security unrest in the Middle East.
Deputy Minister of Haj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that there have been no impacts on the current Haj preparation process. He mentioned that all planning and coordination efforts are continuing according to schedule.
"We ensure that, as of now, preparations for the 2026 Haj have not been affected. All stages are ongoing," Dahnil said in Jakarta on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
This statement comes amid escalating political and security tensions across several Middle Eastern countries. According to Dahnil, the Indonesian government continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with relevant authorities.
Despite the assurances regarding the pilgrimage's safety, the government advises Umrah pilgrims scheduled to depart in the near future to postpone their travel. This recommendation serves as a precautionary measure due to the perceived instability within the region.
The Ministry of Haj and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to coordinate with Saudi Arabian authorities, airlines, and Umrah Travel Organizers (PPIUs) to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, including those facing delayed returns.
"We continue to coordinate to ensure that delayed pilgrims are well taken care of and placed in safe, suitable locations," Dahnil said.
