TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and Vietnam top Group A standings of the 2026 AFF U-17 Championship after both opened their campaigns with identical 4-0 victories at Gelora Joko Samudro Stadium in Gresik, East Java.
Indonesia secured a convincing 4-0 win over Timor Leste, while Vietnam also recorded a 4-0 victory against Malaysia in their opening match.
The results leave Indonesia and Vietnam level on three points each, with the same +4 goal difference, placing them jointly at the top of Group A for now.
Meanwhile, Malaysia and Timor Leste sit at the bottom of the group after failing to collect any points and recording a -4 goal difference.
The situation sets up a tight race in Group A moving forward, particularly between Indonesia and Vietnam, who share identical records.
Malaysia and Timor Leste, however, still have opportunities to recover in their remaining matches to keep their hopes of advancing alive.
In other fixtures, Group C action continues with Australia scheduled to face Singapore at Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, on Tuesday at 07:30 PM WIB. Brunei Darussalam will take on Cambodia earlier the same day at the same venue, four hours prior, at 03:30 PMWIB.
Group B matches will be played on Wednesday, April 15, starting with the Philippines against Laos at Gelora Joko Samudro Stadium in Gresik, Indonesia, at 03:30 PM WIB, followed by Myanmar facing Thailand at the same venue at 07:30 PM WIB.
