TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has provided an updated count of victims affected by the severe floods and landslides across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This latest data was released from the Aceh Disaster Control Post at Iskandar Muda Airbase and broadcast online on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Abdul Muhari, Head of Data, Information, and Communication Center for Disaster Management at BNPB, stated that the agency has significantly tightened its verification and validation processes following the discovery of discrepancies in earlier online dashboard reports.
"The total number of verified and validated deceased victims is now 770, and there are still 463 missing victims," Abdul Muhari confirmed during the online press conference.
Victims by Province
BNPB provided a detailed breakdown of the casualties and missing persons across the three provinces. In Aceh Province, the deceased count has reached 277, while 193 individuals remain missing. In North Sumatra, 299 people have been confirmed deceased, with 159 still unaccounted for. Regarding West Sumatra, 194 people are officially recorded as deceased, and 111 are yet to be located.
Abdul Muhari emphasized that these latest figures represent a correction based on comprehensive field reports.
Search and Rescue Operations
All search, rescue, and emergency handling operations remain focused within the three provinces that are the epicenter of the disaster, with current efforts concentrated heavily in Aceh.
To ensure optimal victim search operations, BNPB is collaborating closely with the Iskandar Muda Military Command, the Aceh Military Command, and the Iskandar Muda Airbase.
As of today, access to several affected areas is still severely hindered by infrastructure damage and continuing rainfall, which has led to unstable conditions. BNPB stated that data updates will be conducted periodically as field developments are confirmed.
