TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has touched down at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport, Egypt, to attend the peace summit on Gaza and Israel on Monday, October 13, 2025.
The presidential aircraft, Garuda Indonesia-1, carrying the Head of State and a limited entourage, arrived at around 07:00 a.m. local time. Previously, Prabowo took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, at 00:20 a.m.
According to the official statement from the Presidential Palace, Prabowo was welcomed by the Chamberlain of the Egyptian Presidency, Mohammed Mokhtar; Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf; and the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin. President Prabowo is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on this visit.
During his stay in Egypt, Prabowo is scheduled to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, where he is expected to witness the signing ceremony of the peace agreement and the cessation of war in Gaza.
Several other world leaders are also slated to attend the meeting, including US President Donald Trump, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Thamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Arabian Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Prior to the Head of State's departure to Egypt, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that Indonesia received the invitation to the Gaza peace conference on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
"The invitation sincerely requested the presence of Mr. President Prabowo because it is part of the ongoing negotiations, which hopefully, by God's will, can bring peace to Palestine, especially in Gaza," said Prasetyo after a meeting at Prabowo's residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, October 12, 2025.
Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations for all parties. Therefore, the President decided to attend the invitation.
