According to the list, India ranks 67th globally with an overall Safety Index of 55.8. Meanwhile, among Indian cities, Mangalore in Karnataka tops the list with a Safety Index of 74.3 and a Crime Index of 25.7, as reported by the Times of India.

Located along the untouched coastline of Karnataka, Mangalore combines rich historical significance dating back centuries with modern dynamism. This appeals to travelers with a blend of tradition and progress.
According to Incredible India, Mangalore's history dates back to ancient times when it was a prosperous port city. Its strategic location on the Arabian Sea made it a center for maritime trade, attracting merchants from distant lands such as Arabia, Persia, and Europe.

This city is the cultural heart of Gujarat, known for its royal heritage and artistry. Some of the must-visit attractions in the city include Lakshmi Vilas Palace, Sayaji Baug, and the Baroda Museum & Picture Gallery.
Other cities in Gujarat included in the list are Ahmedabad and Surat. Ahmedabad has a Safety Index of 68.3 and a Crime Index of 31.7, while Surat has a Safety Index of 66.9 and a Crime Index of 33.1.
As a UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad offers several tourist spots such as Sabarmati Ashram, Kankaria Lake, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Museum, and Jama Masjid. For shopping enthusiasts, schedule a visit to the vibrant Manek Chowk night market.
