TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government will reassign Arief Prasetyo Adi to another position after being dismissed as the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) on October 9th.
Prasetyo stated that the function of Bapanas indeed falls under the Ministry of Agriculture, so the head of Bapanas is held by the Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman.
"Before, indeed, Bapanas was under the Ministry of Agriculture, and because Mas Arief is currently assigned elsewhere, the function was then directly assumed by the Minister of Agriculture. The Minister of Agriculture and Bapanas always go hand in hand," stated Prasetyo at the residence of President Prabowo Subianto in South Jakarta, on October 12, 2025.
However, Prasetyo did not disclose where Arief will be reassigned to. Previously, Arief Prasetyo Adi bid farewell to President Prabowo Subianto after being dismissed from his position. He conveyed his farewell to President Prabowo in an image accompanied by a message of gratitude and prayers for the Prabowo administration.
"I express my gratitude for the trust and patriotic spirit always given by President Prabowo Subianto, whom we are proud of," Arief stated in the image sent and received by Tempo, on October 12, 2025.
Arief allowed Tempo to quote the message. The former head of Bapanas mentioned that Prabowo always struggled for the welfare of farmers, breeders, fishermen, and the people throughout Indonesia by upholding integrity and nationalism.
Arief hopes that the Prabowo administration can lead Indonesia in accordance with the founding father's ideals, which are a just and prosperous Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
"Gemah ripah loh jinawi toto tentrem karto raharjo, baldatun toyyibatun warrabun ghafur. Amin ya rabbal alamin (Abundant in natural resources, peaceful and prosperous, blessed by God. Amen, O Lord of the universe)," he said.
The dismissal of Arief Prasetyo as the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) is stated in Presidential Decree Number 116/P Year 2025. "Respectfully dismissing Arief Prasetyo Adi as the Head of the National Food Agency, accompanied by gratitude for his dedication and services during his term in office," according to a copy of the decree seen by Tempo.
The document also appoints Andi Amran Sulaiman as the Head of the National Food Agency. With this appointment, Amran will receive financial rights and other facilities in accordance with the laws and regulations.
This decree also reveals the considerations for changing the head of Bapanas. The President deemed the dismissal of Arief as the head of the National Food Agency necessary to improve the effectiveness of governance tasks.
