TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian delegation will depart for the United States this week to negotiate trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the negotiations would run from April 16 to April 23, 2025.

"We will meet with the United States Trade Representative, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of State, and also the Secretary of the Treasury," said Airlangga to reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office, Central Jakarta, on Monday, April 14, 2025.

Airlangga said Foreign Minister Sugiono had already departed today. Then, he and the Deputy Chairperson of the National Economic Council, Mari Elka Pangestu, will depart for the U.S. tomorrow.

In addition, Airlangga said other delegation members are Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono. He mentioned that their visit was also to attend the World Bank's Spring Meetings.

According to Airlangga, Indonesia is one of the countries given the first opportunity to be invited to Washington, DC. He also mentioned that the delegation team has prepared a comprehensive non-paper or informal document for the negotiation process, starting from matters related to tariffs, non-trade measures, non-tariff barriers, and investment. "And also, reciprocally, what Indonesia requests in cooperation outside of trade," said Airlangga.

Donald Trump has suspended all high import tariffs imposed on several countries for 90 days. Trump stated that the decision was made due to the enthusiasm of several countries to negotiate with him. Before the suspension, Trump imposed a 32 percent import tariff on Indonesia.

In his social media post, Trump said more than 75 countries have called on U.S. representatives, including the Department of Commerce, the Department of the Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate solutions for the subjects discussed.
