Indonesia Ranks Fourth in ASEAN for F&B Exports: Trade Ministry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia's food and beverage (F&B) exports reached US$6.25 billion, making the country the fourth-largest F&B exporter among ASEAN members, Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti said Tuesday.

Roro said the figure still has significant room for growth as the government encourages Indonesian F&B businesses to expand into international markets by leveraging the country's trade networks overseas.

"Currently, our F&B exports stand at US$6.25 billion. Compared with other countries, we rank fourth among ASEAN countries," Roro said at the Trade Ministry's office in Jakarta.

Thailand leads the region with US$17 billion in F&B exports, followed by Vietnam with US$8.8 billion and Singapore with US$6.5 billion, she said.

Roro said Indonesia has significant potential to expand its F&B exports, particularly as demand for halal products continues to grow in international markets, including the Middle East.

The Trade Ministry is seeking to help export-ready businesses access overseas markets through its network of trade representatives, including trade attachés and Indonesia Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs) in 33 countries.

"We can facilitate businesses, particularly those in the F&B sector, in entering international markets through the network we have," Roro said.

Indonesian food products have also begun gaining a foothold overseas through the expansion of local businesses and restaurants. Roro said Indonesia's diaspora in various countries could provide another potential market for domestic F&B products.
