TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa claimed 5.6-5.7 percent economic growth is possible, granted a successful implementation of the Housing and Settlement Ministry's housing program.
"I am confident that if the housing program runs, (economic growth) of 5.6-5.7 percent can be achieved," said Purbaya in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15, 2025.
The minister said he has yet to determine the program's contribution, but believed it would be "significant," as house construction involves many derivative industries, from construction material to furniture.
"Houses are considered an investment, so everything is looking up," he said.
Purbaya believes that the housing program run by Minister Ara would be successful. He also said that the most important thing is to try to improve the economy, which had slowed down.
"The most important thing is for our economy to improve, so that people's lives are more prosperous. Hopefully, the future is better," he said, adding that he fully supports the housing program.
Purbaya visited the Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait at the ministry office to discuss several housing-related topics.
"To be honest, I feel extraordinary support today. The Minister of Finance works swiftly, but also responsibly helps us," said Ara.
Purbaya said Indonesia's economic growth has the potential to reach 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025. This economic performance is believed to be an early signal of a reversal towards a faster growth phase next year.
