IHSG Falls 1.7% as Iran-Israel Tensions Escalate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) closed lower in the first trading session today, Monday, June 23, 2025, amidst increasing geopolitical tension between Iran and Israel. The IHSG dropped by 1.7 percent to 6,789.7.

By the end of the first session, 132 stocks recorded gains, 565 stocks declined, and 142 remained unchanged. The transaction value reached Rp7.5 trillion with a trading volume of 128.3 million lots in 802,804 transactions. The Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia team reported this on Monday.

In terms of transaction frequency, shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) were the most actively traded, with 29,872 transactions. This was followed by stocks of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG) with 28,581 transactions and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) with 26,626 transactions.

In terms of volume, shares of PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) took the top position with 23.9 million lots, followed by shares of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) with 10.4 million lots and ENRG with 5.4 million lots.

Throughout the first session, all sectoral indices were observed to decline. The technology sector (IDXTECHNO) saw the most significant decline, dropping by 2.9 percent. This was followed by the consumer cyclicals (IDXCYCLIC) and property (IDXPROPERT) sectors, which dropped by 2.7 percent each.

However, several stocks in the oil and gas sector showed gains, supported by the sentiment of a potential surge in world oil prices. Shares of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk (AKRA) rose by 5.7 percent, PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) and PT Rukun Raharja Tbk (RAJA) both gained 2 percent. ENRG shares also rose by 5.5 percent, helping to cushion the deeper pressure on the IHSG.

Here are the top 5 gainers during the first session today:

1. SICO rose by 29.2 percent to Rp137 per share

2. OKAS rose by 25 percent to Rp155 per share

3. PTMR rose by 22.5 percent to Rp294 per share

4. PNSE rose by 22.3 percent to Rp930 per share

5. APEX rose by 17.6 percent to Rp160 per share.

Meanwhile, the top 5 losers during the first session today included:

1. MBSS declined by 15 percent to Rp1,445 per share

2. TGKA declined by 15 percent to Rp5,950 per share

3. SSTM declined by 14.9 percent to Rp194 per share

4. LABA declined by 14.8 percent to Rp160 per share

5. CINT declined by 14.7 percent to Rp168 per share.
