TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of people lined up early on Friday morning, April 11, 2025, eager to be among the first to purchase the iPhone 16 series at Digimap's newest store in Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta. Digimap is an official Apple Premium Partner and Authorized Reseller in Indonesia.
The launch event also marked the official opening of Digimap’s physical store at Pacific Place Mall, South Jakarta, replacing the temporary pop-up store previously located there. This outlet is Digimap’s first Apple Premium Partner store in Jakarta’s central business district.
According to Tempo, around 25 people had been queuing in front of the store since 10:00 AM WIB.
Some of them had even arrived as early as 07:30 AM WIB, before the mall opened. Miraj, from Depok, admitted to having been using an iPhone for a long time and had been looking forward to this latest series for quite some time.
"I've been interested in the iPhone 16 since before it entered (Indonesia)," he said.
Not far from Miraj, there was Hanif standing in line since 8:00 AM. He stated that he wanted to buy the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a 1 TB capacity, but he got the 512 GB version. Hanif was previously a user of iPhone 15 and wanted to upgrade to the latest phone.
"I've been eager to get the iPhone 16 for a while, just like many others in Indonesia who've been anticipating its arrival," said Hanif. The iPhone 16 series launch in Indonesia comes a few months after its release in other countries.
Another buyer shared that their interest stemmed from the new color options. "The colors are more vibrant and playful compared to the previous series," they said.
Until 11:00 AM WIB, the queue was still visible. Around 20 people were seen waiting for their turn to enter the store. After the opening of Digimap store and the launch of iPhone 16 series, the Head of Marketing for Apple Product PT MAP Zona Adiperkasa, Farah Fausa Winarsih, stated that the enthusiasm for this new product is exceptional.
"Initially, we thought, 'Oh, maybe people would wait a few more months for the launching of iPhone 17' or perhaps people had already bought a lot from abroad, so maybe the enthusiasm wouldn't be that great. But it turns out, based on the quantity we sold, it's surprisingly much higher, and I can say that the pre-orders exceeded our target," she said.
