TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo reported that the central bank purchased government bonds (SBN) totaling Rp270 trillion from January to the end of October 2025.

The purchases were made through the secondary market and a government debt-switching program.

Since January 2025, Bank Indonesia has provided SBN totaling Rp269.97 trillion, rounded up to Rp270 trillion as of October 30, 2025,” Perry said during a press conference at the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) meeting in Jakarta on November 3, 2025.

Of the total, Rp199.9 trillion was acquired through the debt-switching program, representing a coordinated effort between monetary and fiscal policy.

Perry emphasized that SBN purchases are one of four key monetary measures taken by Bank Indonesia.

Another step has been consecutive interest rate cuts in July, August, and September, each by 25 basis points, bringing the BI benchmark rate to 4.75 percent as of September 2025. This marks a total of six rate reductions since September 2024.

Other measures include stabilizing the rupiah exchange rate, intervening in offshore markets, and selling financial instruments in the Non-Deliverable Forward (NDF) market.

Earlier, Bank Indonesia had announced its plan to purchase SBN from the secondary market following an agreement with the Ministry of Finance. In 2025, the central bank initially targeted purchases of Rp100 trillion, later aiming to exceed Rp150 trillion.
