TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, stated that the provincial government has prepared cash assistance of Rp9 million for miners affected by mining restrictions and the operational limitations of goods transportation in the Parung Panjang District in Cigudeg and Rumpin, Bogor Regency. He mentioned that the assistance will be distributed in two stages.

"In the first stage, they will receive Rp3 million, as not all of the planning has been included in the 2025 Regional Budget. In 2026, we will prepare for payment again for the following two months. Today, Rp3 million has been planned, and in January, around Rp6 million will be provided. So, we're providing Rp9 million in compensation," said Dedi Mulyadi, quoted from a press release on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Dedi Mulyadi mentioned that the first stage of compensation, totaling Rp3 million, is planned for distribution in November 2025. The second stage, totaling Rp6 million, is scheduled for January 2026.

The West Java provincial government has temporarily halted mining activities in Parung Panjang, Bogor Regency, as stated in Letter Number 7920/ES.09/PEREK dated September 25, 2025. The letter stated that the temporary cessation was caused by ongoing mining activities in Parung Panjang, which continue to pose environmental, safety, traffic, pollution, and infrastructure issues.

Dedi Mulyadi admitted that the provincial government is preparing a comprehensive solution to address mining issues in Parung Panjang from environmental, economic, and community welfare perspectives. "Mining activities must generate humane values. I no longer want unregistered laborers or those loading goods without insurance. I no longer want anyone to die in the mines without receiving work accident insurance. I don't want them to be paid very low wages anymore," he said.

In addition to providing cash assistance to residents affected by the temporary cessation of mining activities in Parung Panjang, the West Java provincial government and the Bogor regency are exploring the possibility of cooperating with Bank BJB to help daily miners purchase their own transportation. "My offer to the Regent is, today they're driving trucks, driving diesel colts, but they're working for others. I want them to become owners, to have their own vehicles, through the cooperation of the local government and BJB to provide zero down payment loans. There are vehicles without a down payment, to be directly paid next month," he said.

Sumarni, a resident of Cigudeg affected by the situation, expressed willingness to follow the steps taken by the provincial government. "We will comply with all directives and policies from the government," she said, as quoted from the press release.
