TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Trade Budi Santoso announced that Indonesian Muslim fashion, also known as modest fashion, has been ranked the number one in the world this year.
“This recognition reflects the creativity and quality of Indonesian fashion products,” Budi said in a written statement on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Following this achievement, Budi emphasized that the government’s role is now to encourage more business actors, including SMEs, to expand into the global market.
One of the key strategies, he explained, is leveraging e-commerce platforms alongside physical stores, a combined approach known as omnichannel marketing. While physical stores offer a direct shopping experience, online platforms allow entrepreneurs to reach a much wider audience.
Budi made these remarks during a discussion session at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2026, which was held from November 6 to 9, 2025.
During the four-day event, JMFW 2026 recorded a total transaction value of US$19.51 million, or approximately Rp321.88 billion, surpassing the initial target of US$10 million.
Breaking down the figures, Budi revealed that transactions came from multiple sources: memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth US$15.30 million, direct on-site sales of US$436,280, and business matching transactions totaling US$3.77 million. Around Rp122.23 billion, or 38 percent of the total, originated from SMEs.
The exhibition attracted 11,459 visitors over four days and featured 242 local brands, showcasing a wide array of designs from modest fashion designers as well as other supporting industries.
