TEMPO.CO, JakartaScoot, a low-cost carrier and a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, will be serving Kualanamu-Singapore flights starting in February 2026. The flights will operate daily using Airbus A320 aircraft. Currently, ticket bookings can be made through the airline's official website, mobile application, and online travel agents.

The introduction of Scoot flights will benefit North Sumatra, especially in the tourism sector. North Sumatra province is abundant in natural resources for nature enthusiasts. To experience the local culture and the beauty of the city, tourists can visit the neighboring areas of Medan. The rich cultural heritage of the Batak and Malay communities is particularly captivating.

"One of the UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites is Lake Toba, where visitors can enjoy various attractions and international events held regularly," said the Acting CEO of PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, Yosrizal Syamsuri, in a written statement in Medan on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

As the gateway manager to North Sumatra, Angkasa Pura enthusiastically welcomes this flight plan. According to Yosrizal, the plan is a positive sign for the revival of tourism and international flight traffic at Kualanamu Airport.

"We are ready to collaborate with Scoot and the government through the Tourism Office to maximize the aircraft occupancy rate and market the tourism potential of North Sumatra to the world," Yosrizal said.

Before the peak season of Christmas and New Year 2025, the airport in Deliserdang Regency just inaugurated a new branded tenant in the domestic passenger boarding lounge. This serves as evidence that management is seriously improving passenger service. It is not only about operational readiness, but also about enhancing commercial passenger services, which is in focus for the airport management.

The Managing Director of PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, Ravishankar Saravu, stated that adding branded tenants is an effort to keep up with the growth of international passenger traffic. With an increasing number of international flights, the presence of renowned F&B and fashion brands at the airport becomes increasingly essential.

"We have profiled many medium and high-end passengers flying to and from KNO. Hence, we took the initiative to bring in branded tenants," he said.

Ravishankar revealed that from January to October 2025, Kualanamu International Airport has served 2 million international passengers, showing a positive year-on-year growth trend of 7.3 percent from 2024, reaching 1.85 million passengers.

In line with the growth of international passenger numbers, Angkasa Pura has added renowned tenants to enhance services. In 2023, 58 brands opened counters and branches. Currently, 71 brands are present at Kualanamu Airport.
