Prosecutors Seek Death Penalty for Two Medan Drug Couriers in Meth, Ecstasy Bust

8 hours ago 5

TEMPO.CO, Medan - Prosecutors from the Belawan State Attorney’s Office have demanded the death penalty for two drug case defendants, Muhammad Fauzi and Kiki Rezeki Siregar, whom they deemed guilty of trafficking 29 kilograms of methamphetamine and 39,000 ecstasy pills.

"Requesting the judges to impose the death penalty on both defendants because their actions do not support the government's program to eradicate drugs and cause public concern," said Isti Risa Sunia Yazir, one of the prosecutors, on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The prosecutors stated that Fauzi and Kiki had violated Article 114 paragraph (2) juncto Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The panel of judges led by Cipto Hosari Parsaoran Nababan postponed the trial and will reopen it next week with the agenda for defense or plea.

In the indictment, it was mentioned that on September 25, 2024, the defendant Fauzi, 31 years old, received a call from Syawaluddin, who is currently a fugitive (DPO), who offered him to become a drug courier.

Syawaluddin mentioned Kiki, 30 years old, would contact Fauzi to hand over the goods to be sent.

That night, Kiki contacted Fauzi and stated that he had brought one sack and four bags containing meth and ecstasy.

They met in the CBD Polonia area, Medan. As they were about to determine the delivery location, officers from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Detective Directorate arrested Fauzi.

Kiki initially fled with a Honda Brio car, but was eventually caught on Juanda Street, Medanpolonia District. The police found 29 kilograms of meth and 39,000 ecstasy pills weighing a total of 15,358 grams inside the car he was driving.
