According to Indonesia’s Government Communications Office (Bakom), Prabowo will use the summit to push for stronger collaboration among ASEAN member states in maintaining energy resilience and improving coordination in responding to evolving geopolitical dynamics.

Prabowo arrived in Cebu on Thursday at 01:48 PM local time. The Indonesian president and his delegation were welcomed with traditional dances and greeted by several Philippine officials upon arrival.

The 48th ASEAN Summit is being held under the theme “Navigating Our Future Together,” as Southeast Asian leaders gather to address regional economic challenges, geopolitical tensions, and strategic cooperation.

During the summit, Prabowo is also scheduled to attend the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, a subregional forum aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and connectivity among participating ASEAN members.

The Indonesian government said Prabowo is expected to discuss broader regional cooperation efforts, including strategies to respond to ongoing global uncertainties.

ASEAN leaders are also expected to strengthen coordination in maintaining regional stability, sustaining economic growth, and expanding strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.

After arriving at his hotel in Cebu, Prabowo was welcomed by two Indonesian children dressed in traditional attire who presented flowers to the president.

Several ministers from Indonesia’s Red and White Cabinet, who had arrived earlier in Cebu, also greeted Prabowo at the hotel.

Members of the Indonesian diaspora in Cebu also gathered to welcome the president, with some briefly shaking hands and speaking with him during the reception.
