TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto departed for Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for a working visit. The Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1 carrying the President and his entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Friday morning, July 10, 2026.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the visit, Prabowo will inaugurate dams. "In NTB, the President will inaugurate the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency," said Teddy in a written statement.
In West Lombok, Prabowo will also symbolically inaugurate four dams in other areas. The four are the Keureuto Dam and Rukoh Dam in Aceh Province, Jlantah Dam in Central Java Province, and Sidan Dam in Bali Province.
According to Teddy, the inauguration of the five dams is an effort by the government to strengthen water resources infrastructure. This is especially important because these resources are considered essential for supporting food security, providing raw water, controlling floods, and developing clean energy.
"The presence of these dams is expected to provide significant benefits to the community, especially in increasing agricultural productivity, ensuring water availability, and strengthening the foundation for sustainable development," said the lieutenant colonel-ranking military officer.
Prabowo was accompanied by several officials from the Red and White Cabinet on this visit. Ministers accompanying the President on the flight to NTB included Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The Meninting Dam project in West Lombok has been ongoing since the administration of President Joko Widodo. According to the Nusa Tenggara I River Basin Agency (BWS) Tampang, the construction of the Meninting Dam began in 2020. This infrastructure was built with a budget of Rp1.4 trillion.
The dam has a capacity of 12.2 million cubic meters, with a reservoir area of 53.6 hectares. The Meninting Dam will provide irrigation water to 1,559 hectares of land. Additionally, the dam is said to provide 150 liters of raw water per second and has the potential for a micro hydro power plant with a capacity of 0.8 megawatts. The infrastructure is also claimed to reduce floods in the West Lombok region by 20 percent, with a capacity of 80 cubic meters per second.
