TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Nanik, who was recently inaugurated to lead the institution overseeing the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, arrived at the palace complex around 2:20 p.m.
Nanik stated that the purpose of her visit was to deliver a report to the President, hinting at budget efficiencies within the BGN. "Budget efficiency, great news. Let it decrease, let it decrease—efficiency," she remarked at the location on Thursday afternoon.
However, she stopped short of disclosing the specific amount of the intended savings. She maintained that the findings must first be presented to President Prabowo. "I must report to the President first; why would I report to all of you?" she said to the press.
This palace meeting marks Nanik's first official agenda since replacing Dadan Hindayana as the Head of BGN. She was inaugurated by President Prabowo on Monday, June 8, 2026.
From the onset of her tenure, Nanik has emphasized her commitment to the meticulous management of the MBG program's budget. She noted that financial oversight would be bolstered by the appointment of Deputy Head of BGN, Agustina Arumsari, who brings experience from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
Nanik stressed that she would not authorize any expenditure without the explicit approval of her deputy. "I will not make any decisions regarding the spending of money if Bu Arumsari is not in agreement," she stated following her inauguration on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Beyond tightening budget discipline, Nanik ensured that the BGN would focus on efficiency without compromising the number of beneficiaries under the MBG program. This strategic step was taken to ensure the program operates optimally without further straining the state budget. "This is so that it does not burden the state budget at this time," she concluded.
