TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe integration of AI into various industries brings both disruption and anxiety. While productivity and efficiencies are often mentioned as justifications for the widespread use of this automated system, this shift inevitably raises concerns about the future of human employment. As major companies increasingly embrace AI-driven systems, several job categories face a heightened risk of automation.

Jobs That AI Will Replace First

With big corporations like Meta laying off employees in favor of artificial intelligence, Forbes and Indeed suggested that roles in commerce and manufacturing are likely to be the jobs that AI will eventually replace. Other affected talents are also foreseen to come from these industries:

1. Retail and commerce roles

Commerce roles including customer services sit at the top list of jobs that AI will replace for its flimsy characters. As AI-powered chatbots grow more intelligent and capable of handling customer interactions, the need for human roles in commerce is gradually diminishing. In terms of budgeting, businesses stand to gain significant advantages from adopting advanced AI technologies, which often push management to swap out human roles for smarter, cheaper automation.

2. Data entry

Talents working with processed data have been voicing out their worry about AI domination these days. And, it is not without good reasons. Some major companies prefer AI machines for accuracy reasons, with guaranteed algorithm performances. As a result, manual data entry is in the process of being entirely wiped out by AI software whose capabilities span from scanning, categorizing, and extracting data.

3. Travel agents

Travel agents are among the professions predicted to vanish in the following years, largely due to the precision and efficiency of AI. Today’s intelligent tools can effortlessly handle vacation planning, from comparing destination options and hotel rates to tracking down the best flight deals. Even trip itineraries can now be meticulously crafted by AI platforms like ChatGPT, offering travelers a personalized experience without the need for a human advisor.

4. Manufacturing jobs

Applied automation in warehouses has gradually become a norm now that AI-driven robots are able to carry out various tasks. Efficiency-wise, these machines can replace product handling, optimize quality control, and even perform packaging tests. On the bright side, these tools can never work alone of their own accord due to safety measures, so human expertise is still essential.

5. Paralegals

Paralegals have traditionally handled tasks like document formatting, routine paperwork, and general administrative support. However, with the rise of sophisticated AI tools capable of executing these duties faster and more accurately, the need for human involvement is steadily shrinking. As a result, many law firms are starting to view this role as increasingly obsolete.

6. Transport and logistic jobs

With the emergence of autonomous vehicles, logistic roles such as drivers are consistently mentioned as the job that AI will replace. AI practitioners suggested that these tools are capable of doing a lot, from route planning and traffic prediction to automating deliveries. These arrangements propose lower-cost schemes to business owners.

7. Graphic designers

The entertainment industry is among the foremost fields that are constantly threatened by artificial intelligence. These automated tools have been utilized to create marketing materials such as logos, social media deets, and many other personalized content.

8. Entry-level financial analysts

It may come off as impossible, but entry-level financial analysts are included as the job that AI will replace for several reasons. These tools are set to perform market trend analysis, forecasting risk, and report essentials. With higher levels of accuracy and cost reduction possibilities, many companies are looking to leverage these potentials.

The rise of artificial intelligence is reshaping the workforce at an unprecedented pace, with the list of jobs that AI will replace is growing longer each year. To stay ahead of these unsettling shifts, there's no better time than now to start building high-income skills that can future-proof your career.
