TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the Indonesian National Army (TNI), Major General TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, stated that the selection process for soldiers to be deployed as peacekeeping forces to Gaza is still ongoing. The selection process includes various stages, one of which is the experience of soldiers in carrying out humanitarian missions at home and abroad.
"The selection process is still at the level of each branch, in the form of planning, while awaiting the final mandate of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the political decision of the Government," said Freddy in Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
After the selection process in each branch is completed, the TNI Headquarters will receive the list of those soldiers. "There hasn't been a list of names received by the TNI Headquarters. What is being done is only limited to assessing the readiness of units in three branches according to the standard operating procedure for overseas operations," explained Freddy.
Previously, Freddy mentioned that the TNI has prepared various medical equipment and construction tools to be sent to Gaza. These tools will be deployed along with the dispatch of 20,000 TNI personnel in the health and Construction Engineering Corps.
"Such as field hospital facilities, emergency medical equipment, ambulances, clean water and sanitation facilities, as well as construction capabilities of the Engineering Corps including heavy equipment and reconstruction facilities," said Freddy.
Freddy explained that the various medical equipment will be used by the troops to serve civilian war victims. In addition, the construction equipment brought by the Engineering Corps will be used to build several public facilities for the residents.
Freddy continued, the 20,000 TNI personnel being dispatched already have experience in carrying out peacekeeping missions. They, according to Freddy, only need to undergo some training to finalize their preparations for Gaza.
As of now, the TNI is still awaiting approval from the government and the United Nations (UN) regarding the deployment of troops to Gaza.
