TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Macau has been a stopover for tourists vacationing in Hong Kong. It usually takes just an hour by ferry or 45 minutes by bus. Now, tourists can avail of a free transportation service from Hong Kong to Macau.
The service is part of the Fly You to Macau initiative by the Macau Government Tourism Organization, applicable from May 1 to December 31, 2025, as reported by Macau News. Its goal is to attract more international tourists to extend their trips to Macau and expand the visitor market. Last year, the initiative attracted over 310,000 tourists between February and December.
Macau could be the next travel destination in 2025 with this free transportation service. Macau offers a wide variety of attractions, from nature tourism to delicious culinary experiences, great shopping, and even concerts.
How to Use the Free Transportation Service
Free bus or ferry tickets to Macau are available to all foreign tourists with valid international travel documents. However, this service does not apply to Mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan residents, as reported by Lifestyle HK.
Tourists must have valid travel documents and arrival tickets to obtain free one-way Hong Kong-Macau ferry tickets. Additionally, they must have proof of entry into Hong Kong in the last seven days. If they have made an online booking, tourists must show the confirmation at the ticket counter before departing for Macau to avail of the offer.
The tickets are only for registered users and cannot be exchanged or transferred. This service is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the bus or ferry terminal.
Transportation from Hong Kong to Macau
To use the bus service, visitors must present valid travel documents and boarding passes at the designated counter to obtain a direct shuttle transfer ticket from the SkyPier Terminal to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Meanwhile, there are two options for ferry travel: Cotai Water Jet and TurboJet. Cotai Water Jet now offers online booking services on its official website. After successful registration, passengers must show the confirmation email, a valid passport, and the transportation receipt for boarding.
As for TurboJet, select the Economy class and choose "MGTO Fly You to Macau 2025" when making a booking. For this offer, participants must show proof of arrival in Hong Kong within seven days before traveling to Macau.
