TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta recorded that 16 Neighborhood Units (RTs) and three major road sections experienced flooding this afternoon, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, following intense rainfall across the capital.
The Head of the Data and Information Center for BPBD Jakarta, Muhammad Yohan Polii, reported that the flooding was observed until 3:00 p.m. local time. A total of 16 RTs were affected, including three RTs in West Jakarta: two RTs in South Sukabumi Sub-district with water depths reaching 60 centimeters, and one RT in North Sukabumi Sub-district at 30 centimeters.
"In South Jakarta, there are 13 RTs affected by the floods," Yohan stated in his written release on November 18, 2025.
These 13 RTs include: one RT in West Cilandak Sub-district with a water level of 30 centimeters due to heavy rainfall and the overflow of the Krukut River; nine RTs in Pela Mampang, where water reached 80 centimeters, also attributed to heavy rainfall and the Krukut River overflow; two RTs in East Cilandak Sub-district at 60 centimeters, similarly caused by heavy rain and river overflow; and finally, one RT in Bukit Duri Sub-district with a water level of 40 centimeters.
"Meanwhile, there are three flooded road sections: Srengseng Raya Street in Srengseng Sub-district, Pondok Karya Street in Pela Mampang Sub-district, and Kemang Utara IX Street in Duren Tiga Sub-district," Yohan confirmed.
Disaster Response and High Alert Status
Yohan confirmed that these three road sections were inundated by 10 to 20 centimeters of water due to rainfall and the overflow of the Mampang River. BPBD Jakarta immediately deployed personnel to monitor the inundation in each area and initiated coordination efforts with water resource agencies, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency to operate water pumps.
"The pumping is to ensure that the drainage system functions properly, in collaboration with the local sub-district heads and district officials, and to provide basic needs for the survivors," he explained. "The flooding is targeted to recede quickly."
Yohan also mentioned that the rainfall in the Jakarta area and its vicinity caused water levels at several river posts to rise significantly. The Sunter Hulu Post was placed on Alert Level 2 (Standby) at 2:00 p.m. Concurrently, the Angke Hulu Post and the Karet Floodgate were both elevated to Alert Level 3 (Caution).
