TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that Jakarta and its surrounding areas will continue to experience light to moderate rain from morning until later in the afternoon on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Some areas in Jabodetabek also have the potential for thunderstorms and strong winds today.
Referring to the latest 24-hour weather forecast by BMKG, the weather in the greater Jakarta area was heavily cloudy throughout the early morning, except for the Thousand Islands which experienced light rain. With the wet weather conditions, the air humidity today ranges from 70-94 percent.
From 7:00 AM until midday, light to moderate rain has fallen across Jakarta, as well as in Depok, Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang, and throughout Bogor. The rain is expected to persist until the evening.
By 7:00 PM, only areas in Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi will still be experiencing rain.
BMKG predicts that the air temperature in Jabodetabek today will vary between 23-28 degrees Celsius. The temperature is slightly lower in Bogor, ranging from 20-30 degrees Celsius. Surface winds are blowing from the southwest to the west at speeds of 70-94 kilometers per hour.
The national meteorological agency also issued an early warning about the potential impact of the strengthening of cyclone precursor 97S in the southern Timor Sea, adjacent to the Babar-Tanimbar Islands. The swirling wind has a high potential to develop into a tropical cyclone over the next two to three days.
Head of BMKG, Teuku Faisal Fathani, urged the eastern region of Indonesia to be cautious of heavy rain and high waves due to the strengthening of 97S. However, he also advised the public to remain calm and not to panic excessively. He stated, "BMKG is constantly monitoring the development of 97S," on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
