TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rain has soaked the Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) area in the early morning today, Wednesday, December 24, 2025. This weather is predicted to dominate throughout the day as the holiday atmosphere of Christmas has arrived.
Quoted from the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG website, the potential for moderate to heavy rain has been present before 2 AM. This potential is spread across parts of Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, as well as small parts of Tangerang and Tangerang Selatan.
According to BMKG, the rain has the potential to expand to the entire Jabodetabek area until 4 AM.
Overall, throughout the day, BMKG predicts that Jakarta will experience light intensity rain. In contrast, areas like Bogor are expected to have heavy rain accompanied by lightning.
Other areas, such as Bekasi Regency and City, as well as Bogor City and Depok City, have the potential for moderate rain. Meanwhile, Tangerang Regency and City, as well as Tangerang Selatan City, similar to Jakarta, may experience light rain.
According to BMKG, light rain means less than 20 mm per day, moderate rain 20-50 mm per day, while heavy rain is when 50-100 mm falls in a day. Any amount exceeding that classifies as very heavy and extreme rainfall (more than 150 mm per day).
