TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A survey by Bank Indonesia (BI) indicates that consumers are becoming optimistic about job availability. In October 2025, the Job Availability Index (IKLK) increased to an optimistic level above 100. Previously, it had been in the pessimistic zone since May 2025.
In October, the IKLK was 102.6, up from the previous month's 92. "Respondents' perceptions of the current job availability have increased across all education and age groups," as stated in the consumer survey released by BI on November 10, 2025.
The highest index was recorded in the postgraduate education group. The high school education group saw the biggest improvement in IKLK, although it remained in the pessimistic zone at 98.2. IKLK also increased across age groups, although the perception of the age group above 51 years old remained pessimistic.
The IKLK was in the optimistic zone at the beginning of the year, staying above 100 from January to April 2025. However, it declined to a pessimistic level from May to September of 2025.
The increase in confidence in job availability prospects is in line with consumers' increasing confidence in the economy compared to the previous month. In October 2025, the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) was at an optimistic level of 121.2, up from the previous month's index of 115.
In October 2025, increased consumer confidence was supported by higher Current Economic Conditions (IKE) and Consumer Expectations (IEK) indices, which were recorded at 109.1 and 133.4, respectively. These indices were higher than those recorded the previous month, which were 102.7 and 127.2, respectively.
