TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will introduce a new spectacle to football's biggest stage, with FIFA organizing the tournament's first-ever official halftime show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The match, scheduled for Sunday, July 19, will not only decide the world champion but also feature a star-studded musical performance inspired by the entertainment format commonly seen at major U.S. sporting events.
Who Will Perform at the 2026 World Cup Final Halftime Show?
As quoted by Goal.com, FIFA has announced a lineup featuring some of the biggest names in global music for the inaugural World Cup final halftime show.
The performance is being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will feature international superstars including Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, Post Malone, and K-pop group BTS.
The show will also include Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus, and a special appearance by Coldplay.
The halftime performance is part of a collaboration with Global Citizen and aims to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which promotes access to quality education and sports opportunities for children worldwide.
How Long Will the World Cup Final Halftime Break Last?
A standard football halftime break lasts 15 minutes under the Laws of the Game set by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).
However, the scale of the World Cup final production initially raised concerns that the interval could be extended beyond the usual limit because of the time needed to install and remove a large stage on the pitch.
Earlier reports suggested the halftime break could exceed 25 minutes due to the logistical demands of the performance.
However, Spanish newspaper Marca reported that the final halftime interval is expected to last around 17 minutes, including approximately six minutes for stage setup and removal.
The adjusted schedule allows FIFA to stage the performance while keeping the break closer to football's standard regulations.
