U.S. Ambassador Urges B-2 Bomber Strikes on Yemen Following Houthi Attacks on Israel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, calls for B-2 stealth bombers to strike Yemen. The suggestion came after Israel's defense system intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Tuesday night, July 1, 2025.

Israel's Threat to Houthi

The Israeli military confirmed that the Yemeni missile from was intercepted early Tuesday. Israeli authorities temporarily closed the country's airspace after the incident. Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, responded to the missile launch with a strong threat to the Houthi group.

As of now, there has been no response from the Houthi to Israel's threat.

U.S. and Israel's Strikes on Iran and Yemen

According to reports from Anadolu, the US B-2 bombers were used last week to attack three nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan in Iran.

The attack marked the peak of the hostilities between Israel and Iran that erupted on June 13.

The Iranian Ministry of Health reported at least 935 people killed and more than 5,600 others injured in Israeli strikes. Iran retaliated with missiles and drones, killing 29 people in Israel and injuring over 3,400, according to data from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The U.S.-brokered ceasefire was enforced starting from June 24. But a few hours before that, the Israeli military launched an airstrike on Sana'a Airport and the vital port of Hodeidah in Yemen. The massive attack occurred after Houthi missiles hit the perimeter of Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.

In the past two months, the U.S. military has been launching daily airstrikes in various areas of Yemen, destroying infrastructure and killing dozens of people, including civilians and children.

Trump: Houthi No Longer Wish to Fight

Although Huckabee voiced the possibility of further attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump said in May that he would stop bombing the Houthi. In his statement at the White House when meeting Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump claimed that the Houthi group had surrendered.

“The Houthis have announced to us that they don’t want to fight any more. They just don’t want to fight, and we will honour that, and we will stop the bombings," said Trump, as quoted from Al Jazeera.

Trump mentioned that he had reached an agreement with the Houthi group, where the U.S. agreed to stop the attacks if the group stops attacking American vessels. “I will accept their word, and we will be stopping the bombing of Houthis, effective immediately," said Trump.

The Iran-backed Houthi, has launched missile and drone attacks towards Israel and ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea since October 2023, in a move that the group said was in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
