TEMPO.COJakarta - The death toll from two consecutive severe typhoons in the Philippines has risen to 250 over the past week, while millions have been forced to evacuate, authorities said on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday, as reported by Xinhua and quoted by Antara, that Typhoon Kalmaegi, which made landfall on November 4, triggered flash floods and landslides across the central Philippines.

The typhoon was responsible for 232 deaths and left 112 others missing.

Typhoon Kalmaegi is the deadliest global disaster of 2025, according to the EM-DAT disaster database.

Most casualties were reported in Cebu Province, which is still recovering from a magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck the region on September 30, according to the NDRRMC.

Also on Tuesday, the Philippine Civil Defense Office confirmed that Super Typhoon Fung-wong, which hit Luzon Island on Sunday, killed at least 18 people.

Both typhoons forced millions of residents to evacuate, destroying homes, farmland, and critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges, local officials revealed.

Fung-wong is the 21st tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines this year, surpassing the country's annual average of 20 typhoons.
