TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Institute for Quality of Life released its 2025 Happy City Index on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. According to the research institute, the happiness of a city's residents is determined not only by economic factors but also by the overall quality of life, including education, health, environment, and good governance.

To compile the index, the Institute for Quality of Life analyzed cities worldwide, deploying 200 volunteer experts from communities, organizations, and analyst groups to research cities using 82 distinct indicators.

Here are the top 10 happiest cities in the world in 2025:

1. Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark, has been named the happiest city, with the highest score of 1039. Renowned as one of the most environmentally conscious cities globally, Copenhagen has an efficient transportation system, extensive green spaces, and inclusive social policies. Residents benefit from access to high-quality education, excellent healthcare services, and active participation in local decision-making.
