TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Police Chief of Metro Tangerang City has arrested 34 individuals suspected of engaging in acts of thuggery during an anti-premanism patrol on Sunday night, May 11, 2025. The individuals were then taken to Metro Tangerang City Police Station for questioning and identification.
"A total of 34 alleged thugs were apprehended," stated the Police Chief of Metro Tangerang City, Commissioner Zain Dwi Nugroho, on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Zain stated that the apprehension of the individuals demonstrates the presence of the police force among the community to provide comfort and security from the troubling acts of thuggery.
The patrol operation is part of the Anti-Crime Operation Jaya 2025 within the jurisdiction of Metro Tangerang City Police, which will last for 15 days from May 9-23, 2025.
According to Zain, the police have received several public reports on acts of thuggery in several crowded areas and warehouse districts. This patrol activity is a prompt response from the police to tackle these public reports.
"Crowded areas frequently visited by the public, industries, warehouses, and areas with high community activities, including those that may disrupt investments, are the targets of routine patrols, including follow-ups on public reports received by the command center," he said.
Zain hopes for community participation in the effort to eradicate thuggery. The public is urged to immediately report to the police if they become aware of, witness, or fall victim to acts of thuggery, theft with violence, motor vehicle theft, and disturbing activities by social organizations.
"Contact the nearest police substation or WhatsApp the Complaints Line at 082211110110 and the Call Center 110 directly connected to the Command Center of Metro Tangerang City Police. Report if you are aware of or have fallen victim to acts of thuggery, theft with violence, vehicle theft, brawls, debt collectors, or members of social organizations," Zain added.
