TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta Police apprehended 14 illegal parking attendants and street controllers, often called "Pak Ogah," during the Operation to Eradicate Disorder on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Head of the General Crime Detective Unit, Police Adjunct Commissioner Diaz Yudhistira, said that the apprehended parking attendants and street controllers usually operate in the Tamansari area, West Jakarta.
"We apprehended fourteen individuals from several locations prone to disorder, including the Roxy Pharmacy parking lot, the Grand Paragon roundabout, the Olimo traffic light, and the Pujasera and Mangga Besar intersections," Diaz said in a press release on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Diaz stated that they have recorded the data of the detained individuals. The police will conduct further checks regarding their involvement with specific community organizations.
He added that similar operations will continue until May 23, 2025. "Similar operations will gradually and comprehensively continue throughout the West Jakarta Police jurisdiction to ensure the public feels safe from potential street disturbances," Diaz stated.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto has instructed his subordinates to conduct operations to combat thuggery in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. The operation will be held for fifteen days from May 9 to 23, 2025.
For this operation, Karyoto has deployed 999 personnel, including 663 police officers, 306 military personnel, and 30 Jakarta Provincial Government employees.
"We are all ready to act if there are matters related to thuggery," Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said after leading the Anti-Thuggery Alert Roll Call at the National Monument (Monas) Square, Central Jakarta, on Friday, May 9, 2025.
