TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Krui, Lampung on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Prabowo invited several central government officials to attend, including Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Foreign Minister Sugiono.
The inauguration event began with a tour of the hospital. Broadcasted on the Presidential Secretariat's social media, Prabowo took a tour around the RSUD before delivering a speech. "I am proud to inaugurate the RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir in Krui, Pesisir Barat in Lampung," said the Gerindra Party chair.
Prabowo expressed his happiness at being present for the inauguration of the Krui RSUD. He hopes that the people of Lampung, especially in Pesisir Barat Regency, can now access more adequate health services.
The former defense minister expressed concern over the continued deaths of Indonesian citizens due to childbirth-related bleeding who were unable to reach a distant hospital. "This must be addressed. The government will continue to improve health services," he said.
Prabowo stated that his government plans to renovate 350-400 hospitals throughout Indonesia. He also wants to improve 10,000 public health centers (Puskesmas) across the country.
Several officials accompanied Prabowo during the inauguration of Muhammad Thohir RSUD. In addition to the Health Minister and Foreign Minister, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya from the central government also attended.
Local officials, such as Governor of Lampung Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, Regent of Pesisir Barat Dedi Irawan, and Head of Eva Hadaniah Al Syati RSUD, also came to the location. Medical personnel and doctors also participated in the event.
Prabowo advised them to manage Muhammad Thohir RSUD properly. Maintain its cleanliness, carry out professional, transparent management, and be oriented towards serving the people. "The public must feel the real benefits of the presence of this hospital," he said.
The improvement of RSUD services is one of President Prabowo's priority programs or quick wins. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the government aims to improve the quality of services at 66 RSUDs located in underprivileged, remote, and frontier areas.
Teddy mentioned that 20 out of 22 RSUDs were completed by 2025, 10 of which were already operational. Meanwhile, in 2026, 4 out of 20 RSUDs have already started construction. "In 2027, there are still 24 RSUDs in the planning stage," said Teddy in a written statement on Wednesday.
