Police to Collaborate with PPATK to Trace Money Flow of Thuggery

1 day ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Department (Polda Metro Jaya) will collaborate with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) to trace the financial flow of members of mass organizations (ormas) who profit from acts of thuggery.

The General Crime Detective Director of the Jakarta Metro Police Department, Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra, said that they are currently tracing the flow of funds from the thugs' activities. "We will trace where the money flows, so we are constantly tracing it," he said at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Department on Monday, May 26, 2025.

The investigators of the Jakarta Metro Police will collaborate with PPATK to trace the funds from thuggery. "We will later coordinate with PPATK if the funds are in an account," he said. "Including some that have been turned into assets, which we may confiscate."

The Jakarta Metro Police Department and its police resort (polres) have arrested 3,599 suspected thugs within a 15-day period. The arrests were made during the Operation Jaya Eradicate carried out by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Department from May 9 to 23, 2025.

Of the total, 56 of them were linked to several mass organizations. They came from seven different organizations. The police mentioned that 31 of them were from an organization with the initials PP, 10 were from FBR, 11 were from TN, and one each from BPPKB, GNBI, GRIB, and GIBAS.

The organizations with these initials are the Indonesian Youth (Pemuda Pancasila), Betawi Rempug Forum, Trinusa, the Family Potential Development Agency (BPPKB), the Lower-Indonesian People's Movement (GNBI), the United Indonesian People's Movement (GRIB) Jaya, and the Union of Siliwangi Children's Initiative Forces (GIBAS).

Several cases of thuggery disguised as mass organizations have caught the attention of the police. The first case is the illegal takeover of parking spaces at the Tangerang Selatan General Hospital. The police found that 30 members of the Pemuda Pancasila organization had been profiting from the parking spaces since 2017 until May 2025. It is estimated that the members have earned profits up to Rp7 billion from the parking spaces at the hospital since 2017.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Department along with the Tangerang Selatan Regional Police have arrested the 30 individuals, who were caught at the scene on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Meanwhile, the head of the Pemuda Pancasila organization in Tangerang Selatan is still at large, and the police have put his name on the wanted list.

Aside from Tangerang, the police also found cases of thuggery disguised as mass organizations in Bekasi. Several members of the Trinusa organization are suspected of organized extortion of traders at the Cikarang Wholesale Center (SGC) market for approximately six years. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Department estimates that the members have earned around Rp5.8 billion from the extortion they conducted from 2020 to 2025. The police have only arrested five perpetrators in May 2025.
