TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police have arrested 17 members of the civic organization (ormas) GRIB Jaya who were occupying land belonging to BMKG in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Banten.
Of the 17 arrested, six of them claimed to be heirs."17 people, 11 of whom are individuals from the GRIB Jaya organization, one of them is identified as Y, who is the Chairman of the DPC of the GRIB Jaya organization in South Tangerang, and six others who claimed to be heirs of this land," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi in Tangerang on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
During the land dispute site security, Ade Ary mentioned that they confiscated evidence such as sharp weapons and parking tickets used by the ormas members to gain profit.
"There were several attributes, parking ticket records, parking tickets from the GRIB Jaya ormas, then there were attributes and the organization's flags, also found sharp weapons. There is also evidence of transfers from the two tenants to Y," he said.
Up until now, the Jakarta Metro Police investigators are still delving into the case to uncover other masterminds involved. "Later, the team will consider, everything will be developed," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary of BMKG, Guswanto, said that members of the GRIB Jaya organization had been occupying their land for years.
"They have been in control here for quite some time, but for their massive activities, it's been 2-3 years. However, for the heirs, it's been quite a long time," he explained.Guswanto stated that after the police demolition, the next step for them is to utilize the land according to the interests of BMKG. "Because BMKG is a government agency, we will use it according to our needs. (We will build an archive building) We will adjust it later," he said.
