Last Group of Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Arrives in Saudi Arabia

1 day ago 5

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The final group of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 02:45 local time. This arrival marks the completion of the pilgrimage arrival series for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for the 1446 Hijri/2025 season.

Abdul Basir, an Indonesian Hajj official at the airport, said that the last group consisted of a combination of pilgrims from the Jakarta-Pondok Gede Embarkation (JKG 62) and Jakarta-Bekasi (JKS 61). "We extend our gratitude to all parties who have greatly assisted in serving the Hajj pilgrims at both Madinah and Jeddah Airports," Abdul said in a written statement on Sunday.

According to the Integrated Hajj Computerized Information System, a total of 203,149 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia, including 44,100 elderly pilgrims.

Abdul explained that this year's Hajj pilgrims were divided into 525 groups. Of these, 266 groups arrived in Saudi Arabia via Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Madinah. "The remaining groups landed at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah," he added.

Upon their arrival in Jeddah, the last wave of Hajj pilgrims immediately departed for Mecca to perform the obligatory Umrah. "They will then await the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage, which is the Wuquf at Arafah on the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah," Abdul stated.

The Saudi Arabian government has set Eid al-Adha for May 6, 2025, while the Day of Arafah (Wuquf at Arafah), marking the peak of the Hajj season, is set for June 5, 2025. This event is expected to be attended by 1.83 million Muslims from various parts of the world, including Indonesia.

However, this year's Hajj departure from Indonesia has faced some challenges. For instance, the Saudi Arabian Kingdom has yet to issue Furoda or special hajj visas, without explanation, even as the service period concludes. This situation means many pilgrims in this category are likely to be unable to depart.

Hilman Latief, the Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, stated that out of the regular Hajj quota of 203,320 pilgrims, only 203,279 visas were issued. "When the process was closed, 41 visas were still in the processing stage. This means the process could not be continued," said Hilman Latief, as quoted from the Ministry of Religious Affairs page on Thursday, May 28, 2025.

As reported by Antara on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar noted that the delay in issuing Furoda Hajj visas is not exclusive to Indonesian pilgrims but has also affected several other countries. He emphasized that the Ministry of Religious Affairs continues to communicate with Saudi authorities to seek clarity on this issue.
