TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has been nominated for the 2026 Ballon d'Or "Young Talent of the Year," making it the young phenom's third nomination for the award.
The 19-year-old has had a bright year, leading the Blaugrana to the La Liga title. He's also one of the key pieces to Spain's successful run in the 2026 World Cup.
Yamal is facing strong competition from his teammate Pau Cubarsi. The defender, a graduate of La Masia, is also a key pillar for Barcelona and Spain, who have been making a name for themselves this season.
Furthermore, Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl has been stealing the spotlight this season.
Karl was a key part of FC Hollywood, which achieved a domestic treble, winning the Bundesliga, the Beckenbauer Cup, and the DFB-Pokal.
Another name that has caught attention is Manchester City midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The 18-year-old is an irreplaceable central midfielder for the Moroccan national team during the 2026 World Cup.
Also shortlisted for Ballon d'Or's young talent award is Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, who enjoyed success by leading Les Parisiens to a treble of Ligue 1, the Champions League, and the French Super Cup.
The French international could certainly be a strong contender.
As reported on the Ballon d'Or website on Tuesday, the following players were nominated for the "Young Talent of the Year" award:

- Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth/France)
- Kerim Alajbegovic (RB Salzburg, Juventus/Bosnia and Herzegovina)
