TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Aprilia rider Jorge Martin is confirmed to miss the MotoGP Indonesia 2025 race at Mandalika Circuit after undergoing surgery for a right collarbone fracture suffered in the Sprint Race MotoGP Japan last weekend.
The Spanish defending champion underwent medical treatment in Barcelona and will not be replaced by another rider in the Aprilia team.
"On Sunday, Jorge returned to Spain to undergo surgery for the reduction and fixation of the fracture, which was carried out on Tuesday morning at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus by the medical team led by Dr Xavier Mir," as stated in Aprilia's official statement quoted from Crash.
The incident in Motegi marked Martin's fourth injury this season. Aprilia team boss, Massimo Rivola, referred to the accident at Turn 1 as a serious braking error that caused Martin to be thrown off and hit his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi.
Martin's recovery time remains uncertain, including his chances of competing in the consecutive races at Phillip Island (Australia) and Sepang (Malaysia). If his absence prolongs, Aprilia is likely to field test rider Lorenzo Savadori as a replacement.
In addition to being absent, Martin may also face sanctions from FIM Stewards regarding the incident with Bezzecchi. However, the disciplinary hearing has been postponed until the defending champion's condition allows him to provide a statement.
Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi, who was involved in the collision, managed to continue the race in Japan. Despite suffering several bruises, he finished in fourth place.
This result caused him to fall behind Francesco Bagnaia, who successfully secured two wins in Motegi in the battle for third place in the world championship.
