TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As of 8 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that 12 neighborhood units (RTs) across West and South Jakarta remained inundated. Isnawa Adji, Head of BPBD Jakarta, confirmed that the flooding was primarily caused by heavy rainfall since Monday afternoon and overflowing rivers.
The majority of the affected areas were in West Jakarta, where seven RTs across four sub-districts were inundated. In South Jakarta, five RTs in three sub-districts experienced flooding.
"The cause of inundation in Jakarta is due to high rainfall and overflowing rivers," Isnawa said.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and prepared for potential future inundations. He also expressed confidence that the current flood situation would recede quickly.
"Areas that have receded include one RT in Lebak Bulus Sub-district and one RT in Ciganjur Sub-district, both of which previously experienced flooding," he noted.
Adding to the concern, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning for coastal flooding from July 4 to 13. This is attributed to the impact of maximum sea tides coinciding with the Perigee and New Moon phases, which "has the potential to increase the maximum sea tide height in the coastal areas of North Jakarta," Isnawa explained.
Here are the details of the 12 locations in Jakarta still affected by rain and river overflow:
- West Jakarta
1. Semanan Village: 1 RT affected, with water levels at 30 centimeters.
2. Duri Kepa Village: 2 RTs affected, water levels at 30 centimeters.
3. South Sukabumi Village: 2 RTs affected, with water levels at 75 centimeters.
4. North Sukabumi Village: 2 RTs affected, with water levels ranging from 50 to 60 centimeters.
- South Jakarta
1. West Cilandak Village: 1 RT affected, with water levels at 70 centimeters.
2. Pondok Labu Village: 1 RT affected, with water levels reaching 120 centimeters.
3. Cilandak Timur Village: 3 RTs affected, with water levels ranging from 40 to 90 centimeters.
