TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Iranian delegation left the negotiating venue with the United States in Switzerland on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in protest against threats from US President Donald Trump, according to Tasnim as cited by Antara.
Citing a source close to the Iranian negotiating team, the news agency reported that the move was made to protest Trump's threat to attack Iran again if Tehran failed to persuade pro-Iranian groups in Lebanon to stop "making trouble."
Afterward, the head of the Iranian negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, urged the US to be cautious in its statements.
He also emphasized the readiness of the Iranian armed forces to respond to any threats.
"They (US) should be careful with their statements; our forces are prepared to respond in a different manner. No matter what they say, we are the ones who will take action," Ghalibaf said via platform X.
Technical-level talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, took place behind closed doors in the Burgenstock resort in the Alps on Sunday.
Previous media reports had stated that the first round of talks had concluded.
