Iran Confirms Death of Revolutionary Guard Intelligence Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mohammad Kazemi, the head of the Intelligence Organization of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and his deputy, Hassan Mohaqeq, were killed in an Israeli attack, as confirmed by IRGC on Sunday, as reported by Al Arabiya and Anadolu.

In a statement, the IRGC mentioned that another IRGC commander, Mohsen Bagheri, was also killed, along with three unnamed security personnel.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Kazemi and Mohaqeq were killed in an Israeli airstrike.

"A few moments ago, we also killed the head of intelligence and his deputy in Tehran," Netanyahu told Fox News in an interview, adding, "Our brave pilot was in the sky of Tehran, and we targeted military and nuclear locations."

On Friday, Israel launched a massive attack on Iran, including an apartment building in Tehran occupied by civilians, military locations, and nuclear facilities. Tel Aviv claimed the attack was to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons, despite Iran being in negotiations with the United States.

The attack has killed several senior Iranian military commanders, including Hossein Salami, Mohammad Bagheri, Amirali Hajizadeh, and Gholamali Rashid, among others. Several nuclear scientists also died in the attack.

Israeli authorities stated that at least 13 people were killed and over 370 others were injured as a result of the Iranian missile strike.

Meanwhile, according to the Iranian Ministry of Health, at least 128 people were killed and 900 others were injured since the Israeli attack began on Friday.
